Straight from Cologne, we proudly debut with our first release on Technology Gap 001, with some deep as its gets straight up House Music acompaning your personal summer madness. Anyone wondering what Oliver Koch's Breitbandkater project's all about need only turn to the EP's opening cut, “Warm and Wet,” wherein the Cologne-based producer proclaims, “I want the best for you / So everything I do / is house music.” Yep, Technology Gap 001 is house music all right, and a particularly fine sampling of it too. The aforementioned “Warm and Wet” immediately declares itself an EP high point the moment it's thumping bass pulse kicks in. Sleekly designed, the cut begins with a tight minimal swing that swells into a jacking house fireball while serving up six minutes of chunky chords and cracking snares. The second track, “Wonder Why,” tips the balance in a slightly more soulful deep house direction when Monojoe spreads an exuberant vocal over Breitbandkater´s lush backing. Warm chords and a sweetly grooving pulse provide a soft cushion for some old-school cymbal patterns and a radiant synth hook in the smooth stormer. Adopting a slightly more atmospheric approach, with House Group of the Hour, Morning Factory winds up the EP with a trippy remix of “Warm and Wet” which finds Koch's vocal drifting through the slow-building mix in a semi-entranced daze. Lovers of classy deep house should no doubt find much to admire about Breitbankater's three-tracker. Der Dritte Raum is back! It’s hard to believe but it’s been 16 years since Andreas Krüger released his first album on Harthouse, followed by five more albums and countless 12-inches on various labels. This coming album, his seventh, will be released on his own imprint Save to Disc, which has recently been the subject of a friendly takeover by Andreas. With Rosa Rausch, Andreas has released another one of his typical musical kaleidoscopes. His distinctive grooves last from the first to the very last bar of the record - sometimes brisk, sometimes subtle; he knows how to fascinate his audience. His deep love for hypnotic arrangements and entrancing synth-lines - derived from the classic machines of the last century - exudes from every moment of this album. Still the tracks don’t fit the usual labels. The impact of two decades of House and Techno merge with solid Ambient sounds, Electro and Swing into a genre-busting amalgam full of musical surprises. You can hear that this bedrock of Techno history is beyond proving himself to anyone, every musical facet is an exactly placed but casual shot from the hip. Andreas exquisitely manages to transfer day-to-day inspiration into distinct musical positions. Wonderful moments come out of this vintage machinery: pounding and hissing like a steam train, title track Rosa Rausch gains momentum on this trip into the countryside. Beats jingle cheerfully like ice cubes in a highball glass. Summery synthies convey a feeling of sand between your toes. Two other tracks, Lieblingsloop and Blautaut, also have this spirit of the summer; with a feeling of effortlessness and of the sun shining on your face, the music takes your hand and draws you to the dance floor. The story behind Great Weekend's dazzling debut for Wurst is one of those serendipitous moments that have characterized the label's exciting history to date. Late last Fall, Wurst label boss received an email from longtime friend and one half of the Brooklyn-based, renegade-partythrowing Mister Saturday Night DJ duo, Justin Carter. He had reached out to Roy regarding a song called “Khandoit” by his friend Tone aka Master Khan. Roy immediately fell in love with it, and promptly met with the man to discuss doing a Wurst release. Fast forward a few months, and Roy stumbled upon the MySpace page for Master Khan's Great Weekend project. Roy discovered “That's Where It's @”, a party-rockin', futuristic house cut with a nod to Frankie Smith's “Double Dutch Bus”, and again, promptly connected with Tone to discuss signing it. Tone mentioned that he had another song based on the same groove, and sent Roy the demo of “It's Now”. Now Roy is typically given to hyperbole and excitement, but this song just blew him away, what with its infectious bounce, shimmering synths, and above all, sultry, male R&B vocals. Who was this mystery man? Tone kept the identity of the singer a secret for as long as possible as he knew Roy would freak out, and freak out he did! As it turned out, it was none other than Justin Carter singing on “It's Now”! He had kept his vocal talents more or less hidden since over half a decade ago, when he put a pause on writing and performing to focus on DJ'ing and broadening his knowledge of music. Was it worth the wait? You bet your arse it was! Great Weekend is the brainchild of Anthony Khan aka Master Khan. The Chicago native - and Chaka Khan's nephew (!) - spent his formative years dancing at Ron Hardy's Music Box and Powerhouse, Frankie Knuckles' Warehouse and Lil Louis seminal, as well as producing his first tracks with Armando and Mike Dunn.
